La Fédération française de tennis compte 1 018 721 licenciés pour l’année 2017 (- 3,2 %) dont 51 % ont 18 ans ou moins (524 568), selon les chiffres clés publiés sur le site de la FFT Fédération française de tennis .

Selon les données du ministère des Sports, après une hausse de 2,6 % en deux ans entre 2008 et 2010, le nombre de licenciés de la FFT a diminué de 7,3 % entre 2010 et 2016 passant de 1 134 571 à 1 052 127 licenciés. En 2016, 29,1 % des licenciés FFT étaient des femmes (306 166).

La FFT est la deuxième Fédération française en nombre de licenciés, en 2017, derrière la FFF Fédération Française de Football (2 160 788 licences au 30/06/2017).
